  About Ashbary

Established in the fall of 1997, this coffee house has grown from an unknown to a
popular suburban gathering place for young and old alike. Vicky & Karl Stadtler & their daughter, Kate, are the new owners. Taking over in June 2006 they decided to close for 2 months, renovate & re-opened the doors in August.

The coffee house is at the end of a business complex often compared to a European town. It sits in the foreground of the forest preserve, which adds another touch of character to the building. Seating is available on 2 floors as well as an outdoor patio in warm weather. Patrons can enjoy a variety of teas, coffee, lattes, cappuccinos, shakes, and smoothies. For non-coffee drinkers we offer many sodas, juices, and energy drinks. Included on the menu are deli sandwiches, paninis, and wraps, chili and soup (seasonal), and various pastries, pies , and European confections. This coffee house is a place where people gather to socialize, study or enjoy different forms of entertainment provided on our second level.

The friendly service along with the endless choices of food, drink, or entertainment is what sets us apart from the "Starbuck's-type " coffee shop.

Real coffee houses are hard to find these days, especially in the suburbs. In the area where we are located there exists less than a handful. Setting us apart from the rest are our hours of businesses well as the variety of events held here. We are open daily until 1am , giving us the nickname " a bar without the booze". Unilike other coffee houses we have a schedule of weekly events in the evening, including Spoken Word (poetry reading) Tuesday, Open Nic Night Wednesday, Comedy Improv Thursday , and live bands on Friday and Saturday.

We also play host for various other groups, meetings and events. Coffee shops are popping up left and right, a Dunkin' Donuts recently opened about a half mile away. However, those are places you stop in or drive thru. This is a place to gather with friends, relax with a book , or study. With the addition of wireless internet service our guests can work and study in a very relaxed setting.
